Your crocheted items are treasured gifts that have been handmade by a local artisan.  Crocheted items take time and talent to create.  Caring for your crocheted items is easy.  And proper care will ensure that it will last for years to come.

Machine wash (in a machine that does NOT have a center agitator) or hand wash in cool water using a mild soap.  You may also place wash cloths in a lingerie bag prior to putting them in the washer.  Do not use bleach.  Rinse well in cool water and remove promptly.  Squeeze gently to remove excess water; or briefly spin dry in dryer on low setting.   Re-shape and lay flat onto a dry towel and allow to dry for at least 24 hours replacing towel as necessary.  Wash colors separately.  SOME COLORS MAY BLEED.

To prevent darker and brighter cotton yarns from bleeding:

  • Mix 1 cup of white vinegar in a basin of cold water.
  • Place wash cloths in basin submerging them completely.
  • Allow wash cloths to soak for at least 30 minutes.
  • Agitate and turn cloths periodically during soak.
  • Rinse well with clean cold water.
  • Lay flat on towel to dry.
